Ithaca vs Elmira, 1996

The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Elmira College, winning the first game 16-0 in five innings and winning the second game 10-8. 
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 16, Elmira 0
 
The Bombers scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning, which was highlighted by freshman Julie McGraw's three-run home run. In the fourth inning, Ithaca scored a season-high 10 runs in one inning to take a 16-0 lead. Junior Tracy Welliver hit a two-run double and senior Jennifer Blum hit a two-run single in the fourth inning. 
 
Blum finished the day going 3-for-4 with four RBI and McGraw went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Freshman Cheryl Wah went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. 
 
Junior Nicki Swan pitched a three-hitter and struck out three batters. She is now 11-6 on the season. 
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 10, Elmira 8
 
The Bombers were down 8-6 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. With one runner on base, Welliver and freshman Cheryl Wah hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. Freshman Cristina Alfano, who only had two at-bats prior to this one, hit a grand-slam to give the Bombers the victory. 
 
Elmira was up 5-0 before Ithaca scored its first run in the bottom of the second inning. Elmira added one run in the top of the third and the Bombers scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 6-4. 
 
Elmira scored two more runs in the top of the fourth and the Bombers scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 8-6. 
 
Freshman Julie McGraw went 1-for-4 with two RBI and Welliver went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. 
 
Junior Nicki Swan allowed 10 hits and struck out three batters in her 12th win of the season.
