Ithaca vs Eastern Connecticut State, 1996

The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Eastern Connecticut State University, winning the first game 8-3 and the second game 10-1. 
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 8, ECSU 3
 
The Bombers found themselves up 2-0 in the first inning from an RBI single by junior Marie Kelly and a sacrifice fly from sophomore Amy McMordie. Ithaca added two more runs in the top of the third inning as Kelly scored on a wild pitch and senior Jennifer Blum scored on an error. 
 
With four more runs throughout the fourth and fifth innings, Ithaca was up 8-0 headed into the bottom of the fifth inning. ECSU scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one final run in the bottom of the seventh. 
 
Senior Jennifer Hoselton went 3-for-4 with two RBI and junior Nicki Swan went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI. Junior Mary Ellen Hoffman went 3-for-4 with one run scored. 
 
Swan struck out four batters and only allowed five hits in her 10th win of the season. 
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 10, ECSU 1
 
The first run on the board for Ithaca came when freshman Cheryl Wah scored on a wild pitch. junior Tracy Welliver hit a two-run single to cap off the inning and take the 3-0 lead. 
 
The Bombers scored two more runs in the top of the second inning and one more in the top of the third to take an early 6-0 lead. ECSU scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ithaca finished the game adding one more run in the top of the sixth and three runs in the top of the seventh inning. 
 
Kelly went 4-for-5 with one RBI and Welliver went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Freshman Julie McGraw went 1-for-1 with two RBI and junior Angela Ellis went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. 
 
Sophomore Rebecca Lafornara picked up her fifth win of the season as she pitched a two-hitter while striking out two batters.
