The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, losing the first game 6-2, but won the second game 5-4. The Bombers are now 8-6 on the season

Game 1 | Cortland 6, Ithaca 2

Cortland scored two runs early in the first inning and the Bombers tied the contest in the top of the second inning. The Red Dragons took the lead again in the bottom of the second by scoring three runs. Cortland added one final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Senior Jennifer Blum and junior Nicki Swan both drove in RBIs for the Bombers in the second inning, with Blum going 1-for-3 and Swan going 2-for-3. Senior Jennifer Hoselton went 1-for-3 with one run scored.Â

Swan only allowed four hits and had five strikeouts in the loss.Â

Game 2 | Ithaca 5, Cortland 4

The Bombers scored a quick three runs in the top of the first inning and Cortland cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom half of the inning. Ithaca added two runs in the top of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5-2. The Red Dragons scored one run in each of the fourth and sixth innings.Â

Freshman Cheryl Wah went 2-for-4 with two RBI and junior Tracy Welliver went 3-for-3 with one RBI. Junior Marie Kelly added one RBI as well.Â

Sophomore Rebecca Lafornara picked up her fourth win of the season as she struck out two batters and only allowed seven hits.Â
