The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against SUNY Cortland, wining both games by a score of 3-2. With both wins, the Bombers are 14-10 on the season.
Game 1 | Ithaca 3, Cortland 2
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Cortland scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Ithaca scored three runs to overcome the deficit. The first two runs came off a Cortland throwing error, while the third run came from an RBI groundout by freshman Christie Davis.
Sophomore Julie McGraw and sophomore Cheryl Wah went 1-for-3 and senior Mary Ellen Hoffman went 1-for-2.
Senior Nicki Swan allowed three hits and struck out six batters during the contest.
Game 2 | Ithaca 3, Cortland 2
No runs were on the board until the top of the fifth inning when the Red Dragons scored two runs. Ithaca scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, McGraw had a leadoff single and then she scored off a double by junior Amy McMordie. Freshman Kristin Muenzen scored the winning run as she hit an RBI single.
Freshman Robin Bimson pitched the full game as she only allowed seven hits and struck out three batters.
