The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Buffalo State, winning the first game 9-2 and the second game 11-2.
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Buffalo State 2
Buffalo State took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning, but the Bombers responded with six runs in the third inning. The Bengals scored their final fun in the third inning as Ithaca scored one more run in the sixth and two runs in the top of the seventh.
Senior Nicki Swan went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored off a home run and senior Margo McGowan had a great day at the plate as she went 3-for-4 and four RBI off two home runs. Senior Mary Ellen Hoffman went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Swan allowed six hits and struck out four batters. She is now 10-8 on the season.
Game 2 | Ithaca 11, Buffalo State 2
The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning and the Bombers scored one run in the top of the second to take the lead. In the top of the fourth, Ithaca scored four runs to take a commanding 6-1 lead.
Ithaca scored one run in the top of the sixth and scored another four runs in the seventh to take an 11-1 lead. Buffalo State's final run in the game came in the bottom of the seventh.
Junior Amy McMordie went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a solo home run. Swan went 1-for-4 and two RBI off a two-run double and freshman Melissa Fratine went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Freshman Robin Bimson gave up six hits and struck out seven batters in the win.
