The Ithaca College softball team lost both games of its doubleheader against Division I Binghamton University, losing the first game 3-2 and the second game 8-4.
Game 1 | Binghamton 3, Ithaca 2
The game was scoreless until the top of the eighth inning when the Bombers scored two runs. They took a 1-0 lead when junior Amy McMordie hit a single to score senior Meg Steere. Ithaca tacked on one final run to take a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Colonials scored three runs to overcome the deficit and win the game 3-2.
McMordie went 1-for-3 with one RBI and sophomore Julie McGraw went 2-for-4. Senior Nicki Swan pitched the full game and only allowed five hits and had three strikeouts.
Game 2 | Binghamton 8, Ithaca 4
Binghamton jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Bombers cut the lead to 8-1 in the fifth inning and then scored three runs in the top of the sixth to make the game 8-4.
Freshman Melissa Fratine went 3-for-4 with two RBI and freshman Deb Cieri went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Freshman Robin Bimson pitched 3.0 innings and struck out five batters. She is now 1-1 on the season.
