The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Springfield College, winning the first game 3-2 and the second game 5-2.
Game 1 | Ithaca 3, Springfield 2
The game was tied 1-1 after the second inning. The Bombers added one run in the third and the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Springfield tried to have a seventh-inning comeback as the team scored one run but could not score enough to tie the game.
Sophomore Vanessa Montorsi went 1-for-4 with one RBI and sophomore Sharon Orchard went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Sophomore Janine Lawler went 2-for-3 in the contest.
Sophomore Robin Bimson pitched full game as she allowed six hits and had four strikeouts.
Game 2 | Ithaca 5, Springfield 2
Ithaca scored one run in the first and second innings and added two more runs in the top of the third. The Bombers final run came in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Springfield scored its only two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Freshman Nicole Fava went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Junior Cheryl Wah went 3-for-4 with one RBI and freshman Laura Remia went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Sophomore Christie Davis pitched the complete game, only allowing four hits and striking out one.
