The No. 9 Ithaca College softball team swept the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, winning the first game 4-2 and the second game 4-0.
Game 1 | Ithaca 4, RPI 2
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning as the Bombers scored all four of their runs. RPI scored both of its runs in the top of the seventh but could not score enough to tie the game.
Sophomore Kim Sebastiao went 1-for-2 with two RBI off one double. Senior Kristin Muenzen went 1-for-3 with one RBI and senior pitcher Robin Bimson recorded her first RBI of the year, going 1-for-2 in the game.
Bimson allowed eight hits in the contest and struck out four batters.
Game 2 | Ithaca 4, RPI 0
The game was tied 0-0 until the Bombers scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ithaca added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Sebastiao went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Junior Laura Remia hit her seventh home run of the season as she finished the game going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Muenzen added one RBI as well.
Bimson pitched the second game of the doubleheader. She gave up seven hits and struck out two.
