The No. 6 Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Buffalo State, winning the first game 2-1 in extra innings and the second game 3-2.
Game 1 | Ithaca 2, Buffalo State 1
The game was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the ninth inning when freshman Liz Yentema hit a walk-off single to get the 2-1 victory.
Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning and Buffalo State tied it in the top of the fourth inning.
Yentema went 4-for-4 with both RBIs in the contest. Freshman Kim Stephens went 1-for-3 during the first game and senior Kristin Muenzen went 2-for-4.
Senior Robin Bimson pitched all nine innings, only allowing six hits and striking out three batters.
Game 2 | Ithaca 3, Buffalo State 2
Buffalo State had a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but the Bombers tied it in the bottom of the fourth with two runs of their own. Ithaca added one more run in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.
Junior Laura Remia went 1-for-2 with one RBI and sophomore Mairin Dudek went 1-for-2 with one RBI as well. Freshman Abby Hanrahan picked up her second win of the season for the Bombers. She is now 2-0 on the season.
The Bombers finish the regular season with a 29-9-1 record and will begin postseason play at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional.
