GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team got its fall tournament slate underway on Saturday when it made the short trip up to the north end of Seneca Lake for the Mary Hosking Invitational, hosted by William Smith. The Bombers got off to a strong start in their first competition action of the season, as several players earned victories in an excellent day of competition for the new-look squad that was breaking in several newcomers in their first collegiate action.
 
Headlining Ithaca's performance was senior standout Brianna Ruback who earned a pair of victories to advance to the Semifinal Round in the 'A' Singles Flight. She was not the only player to earn singles wins on the day. Although IC did not have any other players advance to tomorrow's winners bracket, IC witnessed numerous wins in the opening round and consolations rounds across the singles and doubles flight.
 
Still alive in singles consolation brackets heading into Sunday are: sophomore Alexandra Dyszewski (A-Flight), first-year Rebecca Andrews (B-Flight), first-year Caroline Herz (C-Flight), and first-year Sarah Kohberger (D-Flight). All four players earned thrilling wins in the consolation brackets to stay alive heading into tomorrow. Also picking up victories were sophomore Rel Klein and first-year Sarah Sposito, who both won opening round battles in the 'D' Singles Flight.
 
The doubles session witnessed some strong performances across the board. The tandems of Ruback and Dyszewski, as well as Andrew and first-year Zoe Davis each won opening round bouts in the 'A' Doubles Flight. Additionally, Kostival and Sposito who won a consolation round bout in the 'B' Doubles Flight.
