Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The No. 10 Ithaca College softball team defeated No. 12 Manhattanville, 8-0 in six innings, on Sunday afternoon. The Bombers are now 10-4-1 on the season.

After an explosive game offensively for the Bombers in game one, the second game lasted just one inning before being called due to rain and poor field conditions. Manhattanville was leading IC, 2-1, in that game before it ended.

Although Ithaca went three up, three down in the top of the first inning, the Bombers' bats started to heat up in the second.

Hannah Anderson drew a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch to get in scoring position. With two outs, first-year
Daniella Mulvey singled to short, giving Anderson enough time to score and give IC a 1-0 advantage.

The Bombers got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second inning to preserve their lead and went on to explode for four runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Senior
Alex Wright led off with a solo home run to center field, giving the Bombers a 2-0 lead. Anderson and
Gabby Laccona both reached on back-to-back fielder's choice plays before Mulvey drilled a three-run homer to left center, pushing IC's lead to 5-0.

Ithaca had another multiple-run inning in the top of the fifth, starting with a
Vanessa Brown single up the middle.
Nikkey Skuraton then singled to left center and moved to second on a fielding error. Both runners crossed home plate on an
Abby Shields single through the left side to take a 7-0 lead.

The Bombers pushed across their final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning. Mulvey singled through the right side and was driven in by an
Annie Cooney double to left center, moving into run rule territory with an 8-0 advantage.

Ithaca forced three quick outs, including two strike outs, in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game early.

Mulvey finished 3-for-3 on the day with four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Bombers. Shields went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Haley Congdon picked up the win in the circle, pitching a complete game with six strikeouts and just three hits. She moves to 3-1 on the season.

Game 2 | Manhattanville 2, Ithaca 1 (canceled after one inning)

Prior to ending the game, Ithaca trailed Manhattanville, 2-1. A single to right field from Shields in the top of the first scored Brown to give the Bombers the lead. Manhattanville's Evonne Torres then drilled a two-run homer to center in the bottom of the inning to give the Valiants the 2-1 edge.

Ithaca is back in action on Wednesday with a road doubleheader at Alfred, set for 3/5 p.m. It is the final non-conference tune-up prior to the Bombers starting Liberty League play next weekend with games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
