2019: Picked up her second-straight Liberty League Player of the Year honor as well as an All-Liberty League First Team nod... Named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region First Team... Played and started in 37 games for the Bombers in her final season on South Hill... Led the team in multiple categories: at-bats (128), hits (53), runs scored (38), doubles (13), home runs (5), slugging percentage (.633), on-base percentage (.457) and stolen bases (15-16)... Eclipsed 200 career hits on April 6 against St. Lawrence... Became the programs all-time leader in hits on May 10 in IC's regional win over Farmingdale State, beating the previous record of 221; she now sits first all-time with 224... Also sits atop the record books with 585 career at-bats, 47 career doubles and 54 stolen bases... Tied for third all-time with a career batting average of .383... Third all-time with 143 career runs as well as fourth with 125 career RBI... Liberty League Spring 2019 All-Academic Team.
2018: Named the 2018 Liberty League Player of the Year... Also earned All-Liberty League First Team honors... Named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region First Team... Started all 47 games played for the Bombers... Led the team with a .360 batting average after collecting a team-high 58 hits in 161 at-bats... Scored a team-high 39 runs while recording 11 doubles, one triple and four homeruns... Finished with a team-high .516 slugging percentage as well as a .405 on-base percentage... Stole 17 bases in 19 attempts... Drove in a team-high 42 runs... Led the Liberty League in runs scored, hits and RBI... Named to the All-Liberty League Academic Team.
2017: Named to NFCA All Region Second Team...At Redlands on March 13th in a doubleheader had a combined four hits, a double, four RBI, a stolen base and a run scored...In a two game series with Alfred State April 11th and 12th went six for nine with three doubles, a homerun, a stolen base, six RBI, and five runs scored... On April 13th collected three hits, a double an RBI and a run scored against Buffalo State... Had three hits and two RBI on April 14th at Stevens... Had a seven game hit streak from April 9th to April 14th... Had a ten game hitting streak from April 27th to May 12th in which she had 18 hits with four extra-base hits and 13 runs scored, raising her batting average from .375 to .418 during the streak... Led the team in batting average (.411), hits (62), runs (40), and RBI (33)...
2016: A First-Team All-Conference selection and the Empire 8’s Rookie of the year, Brown started 44 games for the Bombers and played in all 45. Her .511 batting average in conference play led the Empire 8 while her .352 overall batting average ranked third on the team and 16th among her Empire 8 peers. Brown, who was also named First-Team All-Region by the NFCA, led the team with 51 hits including 10 doubles, one triple and two homers. She drove in 25 and scored 26 of her own runs. Brown, who was named to the Empire 8 Championship’s and NCAA Regional’s All-Tournament Team, recorded two hits or more in a game 14 times including a career-high four hits against Alfred on April 16. She notched her first-career base hit against East Texas Baptist on March 11. Brown had a team-high 106 assists. She was fourth on the team in slugging percentage at .476 and was stole nine bases in nine attempts.
High School: Brown attended Mission Hills High School where she earned four varsity letters under head coach Julie Terwilliger…Served as team captain in her senior season…She helped her team become Avocado East League Champions in her freshman season…Brown was named Most Valuable Player in her sophomore season…Two-time Offensive Player of the Year, earning the honor in her freshman and senior seasons.
Personal: Vanessa, the daughter of Warren and Sandra Brown, is an athletic training major.
