The final score was not entirely indicative of how competitive today's match was against the NCAA Division II foe. The Bombers battled closely in the majority of the matchups throughout the day, but ultimately was only able to get over the hump for a couple triumphs on the day.
The doubles session was highlighted by the second-doubles grouping of senior
Sam McGrath and junior
Max Prestwich. The combination bested Bloomsburg's duo of Benjamin Tauber and Guille Carranza by a 6-3 margin to tie the session up at 1-1. Unfortunately, it was the Huskies that would earn the doubles point, as junior
Stefan Lazarevic and senior
Garrett Boleslav came up just short in a 6-4 defeat to Liver Wiesemann and Robin Luetzig at third-doubles.
The highlight of the singles session again came form McGrath who put a strong finish on his best outing of the spring. He opened his second-singles matchup against Bloomsburg's Carranza with a 6-2 opening set win. Carranza pushed back in the second, answering with a 6-2 margin to force a third decisive set. The third was played as a super-breaker, with McGrath getting the better of Carranza for a 10-5 decision.
Junior
Colten Lavery also took things to a third-set in his third-singles matchup against Benjamin Tauber. Sadly, he was not able to complete the comeback, falling by a 10-7 margin in the super-breaker. Prestwich was the third Bombers to go three sets on the day, but his match also ended similarly to Lavery, as a comeback bid was stymied in a close 10-8 super-breaker against Bloomsburg's Nagid Walle.
The Bombers will conclude their Spring Break trip tomorrow afternoon when they face Wesleyan (Conn.) at the Lake Cairn Complex.
