SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The No. 55-ranked Ithaca College men's tennis team dropped a 5–2 decision to No. 22 Skidmore on Sunday at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center in a matchup that determined the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds for the upcoming Liberty League Championship.
Skidmore secured the victory by sweeping doubles play and winning four of six singles matches. With the loss, Ithaca concluded Liberty League play at 5–3 and finished the regular season 10–7 overall, earning the No. 3 seed.
At No. 1 singles, Skidmore's Yuval Goodman defeated
Gijs Fidler 7–5, 6–3. Ithaca picked up its first team point at No. 2 singles, where
Ivan Kisic earned a straight-sets victory over Kyle Lundberg, 6–4, 7–6.
The Bombers' second point came from
Luis Crespo at No. 6 singles. Crespo rallied in a tightly contested three-set match, defeating Fletcher King 6–4, 6–7, 1–0. Rounding out the IC lineup on Sunday was
Siddharth Vaada,
Carlos Hernandez and
Alex Mazza.
Ithaca will now prepare for the Liberty League Championships beginning on Friday where the Bombers will take on No. 6 seeded RPI at 11:30 a.m. at the Reis Tennis Center on the campus of Cornell University.
