ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team has been on the road since this past weekend on a Spring Break tour that has brought the program from Philadelphia to Virginia Beach. The program was scheduled to cap the break with a neutral-site contest against Liberty League foe Skidmore on Thursday, March 14; however, that contest has been moved to Higgins Stadium on Sunday, March 17, at 3:00 p.m.
The IC men have been based in Virginia Beach since Sunday getting in practice sessions in the warmer climate south of the Mason-Dixon Line. The Bombers were set to open the Liberty League slate later this weekend down in Baltimore, Maryland, with a neutral-site contest against the Thoroughbreds at Tierney Stadium – site of the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters. Unfortunately, word came out Tuesday afternoon that those plans had to be put on hold due to some unfortunate circumstances. With Skidmore experiencing significant lineup losses due to a breakout of influenza throughout the team, the Thoroughbreds were forced to cancel a non-league home game against Curry College yesterday afternoon. The administration decided to postpone Thursday's anticipated tilt to Sunday with the hope of returning some of the affected players.
Ithaca's Liberty League opener against the Thoroughbreds will now be played at Higgins Stadium as the second game of a doubleheader with both institution's women's programs. The IC women will face Skidmore at noon, while the men will square-off at 3:00 p.m.
Stay tuned for more details as things develop.
