ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team returned to the courts at the Wheeler Tennis Complex on Sunday morning for the second and final day of the Ithaca Invitational. In an abbreviated day, IC took part in three doubles matches during the second day of competition.
Highlighting the day's action was the second-doubles tandem of junior
Brianna Ruback and sophomore
Sara Steinberg. In a matchup against St. Lawrence's Haley Sherrard and Carly Jefferson, the Bombers tandem pulled away late for the 8-6 decision. The tandem finished the weekend with a record of 1-1.
Ithaca's other true doubles grouping to play on Sunday was of seniors
Kathryn Shaffer and
Caroline Dunn. The duo struggled to get going in the second day of competition, falling to the Saints top tandem of Caroline Reilly and Christina Ryan.
First-year
Rel Klein also competed on Sunday in a mixed doubles team with Union's Sydney Robison. The duo lost to St. Lawrence's Marie Bank and Ibadat Javed by a score of 8-5.
The Bombers return to action next weekend when they send a contingent of eligible players to Geneva, N.Y., for the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by William Smith.
