ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team had a dominating performance against Division II Le Moyne on Friday evening, as IC won 174.00-63.00.
The Bombers were paced by swimmers
Nate Bartalo and
Andrew Mikhailichenko, who both won two individual races, and diver
Justin Moczynski, who won both boards for IC.
Ithaca started off strong, sweeping the top three spots in the 200 medley relay.
The team of
Spencer Brownewell, Mikhailichenko, Dan Meyers and
Stanley Zaneski won with a time of 1:38.53.
Bradley Keith,
John Mosier,
Matt Crysler and
Kellen Scanlan took second with a time of 1:42.72 while
Liam Maginnis,
Jack Gerken,
Augie Carlozzi and
Nick D'Agostino finished third in 1:50.48.
IC also finished second and third in the 1,000 freestyle, as
Jake Hewitt took second in 10:21.03 while Pat Daly finished third with a time of 10:44.00.
Bartalo won his first race of the day in the 200 freestyle, winning in 1:46.33, edging second-place by more than two seconds.
The Bombers also took third, fourth and fifth places in the 200 freestyle as Brownewell took third in 1:50.72. Meyers finished fourth with a time of 1:41.37 while
Michael Sheehan took fifth in 1:52.41.
Zaneski picked up a win for IC in the 50 freestyle, racing to a winning time of 21.54. Scanlan took third for the Bombers in 23.02 while Zachary Meunier finished fourth with a time of 23.21.
In the 200 IM, Mikhailichenko was victorious for the first time, swimming to a time of 2:03.84 to claim the top spot. Carlozzi finished in third place with a time of 2:07.17 while
Tim Hector rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish in 2:07.50.
The Bombers finished first through third in the 200 butterfly, led by Hewitt. He finished the race in 1:59.00 and was the lone swimmer to crack two minutes. Daly finished in second place with a time of 2:05.66 while Crysler came in third in 2:07.55.
For the second time in the meet, Bartalo claimed the top spot in the 100 freestyle, swimming to a time of 48.75. Meyers took third with a time of 50.28 while Hector came in fourth in 51.40 and Meunier finished fifth in 51.72.
Brownewell, a first-year, won the 200 backstroke for IC, racing to a time of 2:00.29. Keith took third in 2:06.97 while Maginnis finished fourth in 2:07.58 and
Arthur Bances took fifth with a time of 2:09.77.
The top finisher for the Bombers in the 500 freestyle was Sheehan, who raced to a time of 5:09.68. Hewitt was also in the top five, finished in third with a time of 5:10.93.
Mikhailichenko won the 200 breaststroke to claim his second race of the day, swimming to a time of 2:13.00. Carlozzi finished in third with a time of 2:24.45 while Mosier took fourth in 2:25.26.
IC closed out the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Bartalo, Scanlan, Hector and Zaneski were victorious after swimming to a time of 1:28.38.
Diving
With no Le Moyne divers, Mocyznski led the field of IC competitors, winning the three meter with a score of 466.60.
Benjamin Pesco finished second with a score of 325.65 while
H. Caleb Rahner took third with 247.65 points.
Mocyznski followed that up with a win in the one meter, racking up 284.15 points. Pesco finished second with a score of 197.95 while Rahner finished third with 170.70 points and Meyers took fourth with a score of 106.30.
The Bombers are back in action in three weeks for the Bomber Invitational. The meet is set to run from November 30 to December 2 and will feature competitors from Cornell, Hartwick, Alfred, Nazareth, Springfield, Le Moyne, SUNY Geneseo, Shippensburg, Marywood and Rochester. Action on Friday evening will begin at 6 p.m. while Saturday and Sunday will start at 10 a.m.
