RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team edged Cortland, 187-111, on Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Andrew Mikhailichenko led the charge for the Bombers, claiming three individual wins against the Red Dragons.
Nate Bartalo also won two races on the day for IC.
The Bombers opened the day with a win in the 400 medley relay as the team of
Spencer Brownewell, Mikhailichenko, Bartalo and
Kellen Scanlan raced to a time of 3:40.09.
IC's team of
Bradley Keith,
Matthew Quinney,
Matt Crysler and
Michael Sheehan also finished in third place with a time of 3:49.29.
Jake Hewitt was the top finisher for the Bombers in the 1,000 freestyle, taking second in 10:35.03. Pat Daly was not far behind, coming in third place in 10:47.83 while
Arthur Bances took fourth in 11:08.15.
Dan Meyers was the first IC swimmer to win an individual race, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:53.03. Sheehan was just .19 behind, taking second place in 1:53.22 while
Nick Bonnabeau finished in third with a time of 1:54.74.
In the 100 backstroke, Brownewell, a first-year, was the top IC finisher as he took second place in 55.46. Keith was right behind him with a third-place finish after racing to a time of 57.08.
Mikhailichenko won his first race of the day in the 100 breaststroke, winning the field with a time of 1:02.77. Quinney came in third place with a time of 1:04.32 while
John Mosier rounded out the top five with a time of 1:07.02.
The Bombers claimed the top three spots in the 200 butterfly, behind a win from Hewitt, who finished in 2:03.42. Pat Daly came in second place with a time of 2:06.53 while Crysler was third after racing to a time of 2:10.59.
In the 50 freestyle, IC finished in second, third and fourth places. First-year
Tim Hector took second after swimming to a time of 23.42 while Meyers came in third in 23.50 and Scanlan finished in fourth with a time of 23.56.
Sophomore Justin Moczysnki finished second in the one-meter dive with a score of 222.70, narrowly edged by Cortland's Patrick Conway who took first with 224 points.
Benjamin Pesco finished in third with a score of 169.75 while
H. Caleb Rahner took fourth with a score of 166.10.
Bartalo won his first race of the day in the 100 freestyle, swimming to a time of 49.43. Bonnabeau also took fourth place with a time of 52.19.
Brownewell was again the top finisher for IC, taking second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.39.
Liam Maginnis finished in third with a time of 2:08.92 while Keith took fourth in 2:09.45.
Mikhailichenko claimed his second race of the day in the 200 breaststroke, racing to a time of 2:17.66. Mosier came in fourth after swimming to a time of 2:26.37 while
Augie Carlozzi finished fifth in 2:27.13.
The Bombers claimed another victory in the 100 butterfly as Bartalo won his second race of the day in 53.66. Brownewell also took second place with a time of 55.48.
In the three-meter dive, Moczysnki led the field with 288.75 points. Rahner finished in third with a score of 185.00 while Pesco took fourth with 177.10 points.
Mikhailichenko won his third and final individual race of the day in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.31. Carlozzi came in third place with a time of 2:09.72.
The Bombers closed out the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Meyers, Scanlan, Hector and Bartalo took first with a time of 1:30.70.
Ithaca is back in action on Friday evening at 6 p.m. when the team hosts Le Moyne in the A&E Aquatics Pavilion.
