Moczynski Wins Two as Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to RPI

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team fell to RPI, 204.00-96.00 on Saturday afternoon in the A&E Aquatics Pavilion.
 
The Bombers were headlined by diver Justin Moczynski, who won both the one and three meter boards. Stanley Zaneski also picked up an individual win.
 
Swimming
 
The Bombers finished second in the 200 medley relay to open up the day. The team of Spencer Brownewell, Matthew Quinney, Nate Bartalo and Stanley Zaneski swam to a time of 1:37.97 behind RPI's first-place finish.
 
Timothy Hector, John Mosier, Matt Crysler and Kellen Scanlan also finished in fourth place with a time of 1:41.59.
 
Senior Jake Hewitt was the top IC finisher in the 1,000 freestyle, coming in second with a time of 10:35.58. Pat Daly rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish in 10:55.48.
 
Bartalo, a junior, came in second in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:47.20. Michael Sheehan also finished in the top five, swimming to a time of 1:50.13, good for fourth place.
 
Ithaca's top finisher in the 100 backstroke was Brownewell, a first-year, who came in second in 54.46. Bradley Keith finished fourth with a time of 56.08 while Hector was sixth with a time of 57.91.
 
In the 100 breaststroke, Quinney was IC's top finisher, taking fourth place with a time of 1:02.08.
 
Hewitt was once again the top finisher for the Bombers, coming in third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.52. Daly finished in fourth after swimming to a time of 2:08.06 while Crysler rounded out the top five with a time of 2:10.46.
 
Zaneski was the lone IC swimmer to win an individual event against RPI, claiming the 50 freestyle in 21.63. Dan Meyers also finished in third place with a time of 22.46.
 
Ithaca's top finisher in the 100 freestyle was Bartalo, who came in second place with a time of 48.57. Zaneski finished in fourth place, swimming to a time of 48.69 while Meyers took sixth in 50.21.
 
Brownewell was the top finisher in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:00.00 while Keith came in fourth with a time of 2:04.09. First-year Dylan Haraden rounded out the top five with a 2:07.40 finish.
 
In the 200 breaststroke, IC's top finisher was Quinney, who came in fourth place with a time of 2:19.44.
 
The Bombers finished in second and third place in the 500 freestyle, with Sheehan finishing in second in 5:04.36. Hewitt came in third with a time of 5:05.93.
 
Bartalo was the top finisher for the Bombers in the 100 butterfly, taking second place with a time of 51.79 while Brownewell finished in fifth in 54.74.
 
In the final individual race of the day, the 200 IM, Augie Carlozzi was the top IC finisher, coming in fourth place in 2:08.04.
 
The Bombers wrapped up the day with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Meyers, Hewitt, Scanlan and Zaneski swam to a time of 3:20.03, just .03 behind RPI in second place.
 
Diving
 
Sophomore Justin Moczynski won the three meter dive with a score of 261.90, more than 47 points ahead of second place.
 
Benjamin Pesco came in sixth with 182.80 points while H. Caleb Rahner finished in seventh with a score of 145.30.
 
Moczynski repeated his success in the one meter, racking up 229.50 points for a first-place finish.
 
Pesco came in sixth with a score of 164.55 while Rahner finished in seventh with 142.70 points.
 
The Bombers are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Cortland for a 1 p.m. meet.
