No. 4 Men’s Lacrosse Takes Down No. 19 Bowdoin to Remain Undefeated

Box Score DAVENPORT, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team kicked off its spring break trip to the Sunshine State on Wednesday afternoon when it faced nationally-ranked Bowdoin in Davenport, Fla., just outside of Orlando. The Bombers snatched an early lead and never looked back in downing the Polar Bears 17-7. The victory improves IC's record to 5-0, marking the first time it has won five straight to begin a season since doing so in back-to-back seasons in 2012 and 2013.

Bowdoin marked the second nationally-ranked side on the Ithaca's schedule during the early part of this season. Despite presenting another formidable challenge, the Polar Bears were no match for an Ithaca attack that has been scorching hot to begin the 2017 campaign. The Bombers' stayed right on pace with their 17.25 goals-per-game average, which ranked fourth in the nation entering Wednesday. Ithaca pumped in 17 goals, its fourth time tallying 17-plus goals in the team's five tries this season.

IC raced out to a huge advantage in the contest, peppering the Bowdoin net with plenty of early-game fireworks. The Bombers raced out to a 7-1 advantage through the opening 15 minutes of play, before outscoring the Polar Bears 6-0 in the second frame. The 13-1 halftime score was the second largest halftime lead for Ithaca this season. Although Bowdoin outscored IC 6-4 over the final 30 minutes, the 12-goal lead was more than enough.

Ithaca will look to extend its perfect record when it concludes the spring break slate on Friday evening against Western New England in a neutral site contest at Tampa University. Start time for the contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
