ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team returned to the Ithaca College Athletics & Events Center on Saturday afternoon when it faced Empire 8 foe Alfred University in a dual meet. The Bombers honored the four members of its senior class, before comfortably dispatching the Saxons by a final count of 183-to-92. The win improved Ithaca's record to 9-3 on the year, while Alfred dropped its record to 3-6.
It was a dominant performance for IC, as the team scored first-place finishes in 13 of the 14 events in which the team had entrants and 13-of-16 events, overall. The Ithaca men's divers were held out of today's action in preparation for the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational, slated to begin tomorrow morning. The Saxons lone win came in the 200-yard individual medley race.
The Bombers got off to a fast start with 13 points on the 200-yard medley relay. Senior

Aaron Levin cruised to a first-place finish in 1:38.24. The quartet of senior
Gregory Markert, junior
Aidan Hartswick, senior Conner Schroyer, and sophomore
Kellen Scanlan added two more points with a third-place finish in 1:40.58.
A pair of IC rookies picked up 12-of-16 points in the 1000-yard freestyle race to widen the gap. Pat Daly paced the field by nearly a half-minute to pick up nine points, finishing with a time of 10:37.69.
Jeff Gilbert came in third place in 11:19.99. Freshmen continued to make their mark in the 200 free when Mikhailichenko posted a personal-best of 1:48.89 to take first place.
Daniel Meyers added a third-place time of 1:51.71, while
John Mosier placed fourth in 1:52.42 to tack on two additional points.
One of four senior honorees on the day, Markert made it one to remember with a strong showing in the 100-yard backstroke. He topped the field to score nine points for the Bombers with a time of 55.71. Freshman
Matt Quinney completed the one-two finish at the top with a time of 55.82. Sophomore
Bradley Keith added two points with a fourth-place effort in 56.45.
Hartswick posted a first-place effort in the 100-yard breaststroke, besting the six-man field by nearly two seconds in a time of 1:01.93. Levin picked up two points for the Bombers with a fourth-place showing in 1:05.63, while sophomore
Andrew Skinner registered one points with a fifth-place time of 1:05.91.
Ithaca men put the bookend on the 200-yard butterfly. Daly picked up his second first-place finish of the afternoon with a dominant performance, besting the field by nearly 10 seconds in a time of 2:12.48. Junior
Marshall Hendlin went fourth in 2:37.51.
The Bombers dominated the sprints, posting four entrants within the Top-5 of both the 50 free and 100 free events. Zelehowsky recorded a personal best in the 50, blazing to a time of 21.63 to shatter his previous best of 21.82 by .19 seconds. Schroyer finished runner-up in 22.77, while Bartalo took third in 22.98. It was Levin and Hartswick that went one-two in the 100 free, coming in with times of 48.42 and 51.14, respectively.
Like Daly, Markert also added on to his impressive day, sweeping the backstroke with a first-place finish in the 200-yard race. He posted a time of 2:01.17 to narrowly edge Alfred's Alec Toth by .05 seconds.
Freshman Auggi Carlozzi had to wait a while to get his day started, but he posted a season-best race in the 200 breaststroke to win first place. He shattered his previous best time by .67 seconds, coming in with a time of 2:23.09. Classmate Mikhailichenko added his third first-place effort of the afternoon in the following race, lapping the field in 4:56.49 to win the 500 free.
Jake Hewitt completed the one-two finish with a runner-up time of 5:12.84.
Zelehowsky notched his second personal-best time of the day in the 100 fly, shattering his previous mark by more than a second in recording a time of 52.75. Bartalo went second in 53.41, while Quinney scored fourth place in 57.21.
IC went second and third in the 200 individual medley.
John Mosier went second in a time of 2:05.41, while Hendlin recorded a personal best of 2:07.57 to finish third.
IC put the bookend on the meet with a one-two finish in the 200 freestyle relay. In a surprise, it was actually the B-cut team that pulled out the victory in the race, as Bartalo, Scanlan,
Nick Bonnabeau, and Levin posted a winning time of 1:30.45. The quartet of
Ian Foley, Markert, Schroyer and Zelehowsky settled for second in 1:30.78.
IC returns to action tomorrow morning when it plays host to the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational at the Athletics & Events Center. The full squad returns to the pool next Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. meet at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
