CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team lost to Cortland on Wednesday night, 2-0, at Stadium Red following a strong first half by the Red Dragons. With the loss, Ithaca, which is still in search of its first win of the season, fell to 0-3-0. Cortland improved to 3-0-0 overall.
The Bombers fell behind early and were never able to recover as Cortland netted the game's first goal in just the sixth minute after the Red Dragons capitalized on a misplayed ball in the Ithaca zone. Cortland would add to its lead in the 23rd minute after a well-placed ball led to a breakaway and a 2-0 lead.
The pace of play would settle heading into intermission as both defenses were able to keep the ball moving from one side of the field to the other. Ithaca strung together a handful of potential scoring opportunities in the second stanza, including four corners, but the Bombers were unable to find the back of the net as the host Red Dragons remained unbeaten on the season.
Zach Jacobsen started in goal for the Bombers and took the loss to move to 0-2-0 overall. The senior made six saves in 90 minutes of play.
Offensively, Ithaca tallied nine shots overall led by
