Ithaca stretched its record to 3-0 in dual matches this fall with a 9-0 sweep of Elmira on Thursday at the Murray Athletic Center Tennis Dome. It marked the second straight match in which the Bombers swept all nine flights, while it stretched the program's winning streak in Empire 8 dual matches to 13 straight dating back to the 2014-15 season.
Closing In On 200
With Ithaca's 9-0 victory over Elmira on Thursday, head coach,
Bill Austin, inched closer to another milestone in his impeccable coaching career. The win was his 196th as head of the women's program at Ithaca, moving within four wins of the 200-mark.
Kusak Moving Up the Charts
Senior standout,
Haley Kusak, continues to push her way up the charts in her final season on South Hill. The Pittsford, N.Y., product upped her record to 5-1 in singles play and 4-1 in doubles action with her two victories over the Soaring Eagles in the top-flight. She currently ranks fifth on the program's all-time list for singles wins with 49, while she was fourth all-time in doubles triumphs with 53.
Ruback Continues to Excel
First-year netter,
Brianna Ruback, has made an immediate impact in the lineup during her inaugural fall with the program. She logged another victory in the second flight for singles and paired with Kusak for a win in the top flight of doubles in Ithaca's sweep of Elmira. The wins upped her record to 5-1 in singles and 3-2 in doubles this fall.
Scouting Alfred
The Saxons enter the weekend with a 1-4 overall mark and a 1-2 mark in Empire 8 play. However, the team's lone victory came in its most recent match, a 5-4 triumph over St. John Fisher on Wednesday. The Bombers have won 10 straight matchups against the Saxons dating back to 2005-06.
