                     ITHACA, N.Y.  — Senior 
Marni Blumenthal earned a win at third doubles on Senior Day, but the Ithaca College women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 loss to Connecticut College Sunday on the tennis courts inside Glazer Arena.
 
Blumenthal, a two-time All-Empire 8 second team honoree in doubles (in 2012-13 and 2013-14) teamed with freshman 
Taylor Ginestro for an 8-4 victory as the Bombers (14-7) took two of three doubles matches against the Camels (11-10).
 
Blumenthal improved to 10-6 in doubles play this year, but Connecticut won four of the six singles matches to earn the win.
 
Before the match Blumenthal, the lone IC senior, was honored for her hard work and dedication to the women's tennis program.
 
Junior 
Haley Kusak partnered with freshman 
Caroline Dunn on an 8-4 win at first doubles, while freshmen 
Shayna Ginster and 
Kathryn Shaffer dropped a tough 8-6 decision at second doubles.
 
In singles play, Kusak and junior 
Jodi Grosberg each won their matches for the Bombers. Kusak posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at the first flight to improve to a team-best 16-4 in singles matches this year.
 
Grosberg prevailed 6-1, 4-4 (retired) at sixth singles and ran her record to 11-5 in dual matches.
 
In other singles matches, Blumenthal dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the second flight, Dunn lost 6-0, 6-1 at the third flight, Ginster fell 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 at the fourth flight, and Shaffer fell 6-1, 6-2 at the fifth flight.
 
The Bombers, the 11-time champions of the Empire 8 conference, will make their 10th all-time appearance in the NCAA tournament against an opponent to be determined later this month.
