GENEVA,  N.Y.— The Ithaca College women's tennis team traveled to Geneva, N.Y. for a pair of non-conference clashes, and the Bombers earned a split on the day.

Ithaca (12-2) suffered a 6-3 loss to host William Smith before blanking RIT 9-0 in the second match of the day inside the Bristol Field House.

In the match with the Herons, Ithaca claimed points at third, fourth, and fifth singles but dropped all three doubles matches.

In the fourth flight, Blumenthal breezed to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Connie Froass, while at fifth singles, Shaffer won the first set, 7-5, but dropped a 6-0 decision in the second. Shaffer rebounded with a 10-6 win in the decisive third set to earn the point.

Junior Haley Kusak dropped a 6-1, 6-1 setback at first singles, freshman Caroline Dunn fell 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, and junior Jodi Grosberg lost 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at sixth singles.

Kusak and Ginster dropped an 8-2 decision to Hannah More and Michaelann Deton at first doubles, while Dunn and Shaffer lost 8-4 vs. Alex Greenberg and Katrina Kostovic at second doubles.

Taking on the Tigers, Ithaca swept the three doubles matches and dropped only one set in winning all six singles matches.

Kusak knocked off Amelia Ying 6-0, 6-2 at the first flight, Dunn defeated Geanna Heaviland 6-1, 6-2 at second singles, and Ginster earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Brianna Dimisko at third singles.
