ONEONTA, N.Y.  — Sophomore
David Drozjock scored a career-high four goals, and freshman
Connor Hulme matched his career-high with four points on one goal with three assists as the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team knocked off Oneonta State 17-4 Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Jake Cotton recorded six points (three goals, three assists) for the Bombers (6-1), winners of four straight by a combined score of 70-18. Cotton has scored three or more points in every game this year, and has scored six points in four contests.
Freshman
Josh Della Puca added two goals with an assist, and senior
Michael Walker, sophomore
Stephen Morrell, and freshman
Will Witter each added two goals in the win over Oneonta (3-2).
Ithaca scored 15 or more goals for the sixth time in seven games and entered Wednesday ranked ninth in the country in scoring offense (16 goals per game).
Sophomore
Kaelan Fitzpatrick added one goal with one assist, and senior All-American defender
Eli Gobrecht scooped up five groundballs as IC enjoyed a 28-20 edge in groundballs.
Senior
Scott Sidnam made four saves and allowed four goals in 51 minutes in the cage to improve to 6-1. Junior
Jack Deragon made three saves, while Sidnam, junior
Grant Osadchey and sophomore
Keith Morrissey each collected three groundballs in the win.
Junior
Cody Swing caused two turnovers, junior
Grant Osadchey won 54.5 percent of his faceoffs (6 of 11), and sophomore midfielder
Steven Landspurg won 53.3 percent of his faceoffs (8 of 15) for the Bombers.
Ithaca outshot Oneonta 48-26, and went a perfect 17-for-17 on clear attempts. The defense, led by Gobrecht, Morrissey, and Swing, held the Red Dragons scoreless for a stretch of 28:36 bridging the first and second quarters.
Trailing 1-0 after Nathan Doody's tally just 50 seconds in, IC scored the next nine goals to seize control. Drozjock and Morrell each scored twice with a man-up goal, Della Puca added a pair of goals, and Cotton, Witter, and freshman
Brendon Lao each added goals during the run for the Bombers.
Oneonta scored late in the second quarter to draw within 9-2, but Cotton, Drozjock, and sophomore
Winston Wenham tacked on goals during a span of 2:31 early in the third to push the lead to 12-2.
The Red Dragons scored with 6:13 remaining in the third to trim the deficit to 12-3, but Hulme set up Walker and Drozjock for goals just 26 seconds apart to put IC ahead 14-3.
Ithaca opens up Empire 8 play with a 1 p.m. home game against Utica College Saturday afternoon.Â
