ITHACA, N.Y. – 13 different players scored as the Ithaca College men's basketball team never trailed in a 111-73 win over St. Joseph's Long Island on Friday night in the Cortaca Classic. With the win, Ithaca evened its season record at 1-1 while the Golden Eagles fell to 0-2.Â

The Bombers controlled the tempo from the first whistle and built a 14-point lead just four-and-a-half minutes into the first half after rattling off six unanswered points capped by a layup from
Peter Ezema to make it 18-4.
The Golden Eagles would cut the deficit to seven points courtesy of a 9-2 over the next two minutes, but Ithaca responded with a run of its own as the Bombers netted 12 straight points including four inside the paint to hold a 19-point edge, 32-13.
As the half wore on, both teams exchanged baskets but St, Joseph's was never able to string together stops on the defensive end of the floor as the Bombers headed into the locker room with an 18-point advantage, 54-36.
Coming out of the break, Ithaca continued to push the pace and would build a 38-point lead after orchestrating an 11-0 run midway through the second half to take a commanding 87-49 lead. St. Joseph's was never able to find its footing as the Bombers cruised to a 111-73 non-conference win.
Ithaca's defense stifled the Golden Eagles throughout the contest and forced the visitors into 16 turnovers. The Bombers also controlled the glass and outrebounded St. Joseph's, 45-31.
As a team, head coach
Jim Mullins squad was credited with 28 assists on 42 made field goals. The Bombers shot 56 percent from the floor and buried 10 three pointers overall. Ithaca was also nearly perfect from the free line as it converted 17-of-18 opportunities.
Individually, four players notched double digits in scoring led by Ezema's 18 points.Â
Marc Chasin finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while
Joey Flanagan provided a spark off the bench with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Freshman
Gabe Perez-Ronchetta contributed 14 points including three from downtown.Â
Tyler Lemza and
Brendan Till each added eight points for the Bombers. Â
Ithaca continues play in the Cortaca Classic at 2 p.m. on Saturday as it faces Purchase College in Cortland, N.Y. Entering the game, Chasin needs just 13 points to become the 22nd player in Ithaca's history to score 1,000 career points.
