GLASSBORO, N.J. – The nationally-ranked Ithaca College women's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Saturday as the No. 25 Bombers doubled up Ursinus College, 2-1, in the Profs Soccer Classic hosted by Rowan College in Glassboro, N.J.
With the win, Ithaca improves to 2-1-0 on the season while Ursinus dips to 2-1-0 with the loss.
The first half of play featured only one goal courtesy of
Megan Nash in the 12th minute after the junior forward corralled a loose ball in front of the net and blasted it past the Bears' keeper to give Ithaca a 1-0 lead which would hold into halftime.
Ursinus would notch the equalizer in the 52nd minute, but the tie wouldn't last long as Ithaca's
Sarah Woychick put the Bombes in front for good with her first goal of the season in the 72nd minute of play.
Holly Niemiec was credited with the assist after finding her teammate with a crossing feed.
Kelsey King,
Taylor Baranowsky, Woychick, Niemiec and Nash were each credited with one shot on the day.
Beth Coppolecchia played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bombers and made six stops in all.
The Bombers will look to make it two wins in a row at 12 p.m. on Saturday when they return home to host Farmingdale at Carp Wood Field.
