ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine straight matches with a sweep of Keuka College on Wednesday evening in Ben Light Gymnasium. Ithaca is now 13-1 on the season.
In the first and third sets, the Bombers jumped out to 5-0 leads and cruised to victories on 25-13 and 25-12. The only time Ithaca trailed in the match was during the second set by scores of 1-0 and 2-1. From that point in the set, the Bombers went on a 6-0 run to take control of the game.
Sophomore
Kayla Gromen started the match with three consecutive aces en route to four in the match. Gromen also handed out a match-high 19 assists with nine digs and two kills.
Fellow sophomore
Joelle Goldstein paced Ithaca with eight kills on a .615 hitting percentage and 10 digs. Freshman
Katie Evans put down five kills with three block assists and two digs.
Freshmen
Hailey Adler and
Kyle Dandrea each contributed four kills on the night. Adler hit .429, while Dandrea added five digs, three aces and three block assists.
Junior
Breanne Tuohy and sophomore
Caroline Gerulskis both chipped in two kills apiece, while sophomores
Marlee Wierda and
Izabella Mocarski tallied three digs and two aces each.
Senior
Dylan Gawinski-Stern chipped in nine digs and three assists.
The Bombers hit .264 as a team, while Keuka hit -.031. Ithaca also scored on 12 aces and notched seven total blocks.
Ithaca heads to Utica College this weekend for an Empire 8 Conference tri-match with Houghton College. The Bombers open with Utica at 11 a.m. and then play Houghton at 4 p.m.
