Box Score ALFRED, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team dropped a 1-0 contest to Alfred Saturday in the team's third game of the Empire 8 Tournament. The loss to the top-seeded Saxons marked the Bombers' second defeat in postseason play, ending their run in the conference tournament. Ithaca's overall record now sits at 21-14.

Laura Quicker started the contest in the circle for the Bombers. She pitched all 7.0 innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run in the complete-game effort. Quicker recorded seven strikeouts, matching a season best.

Monica Capolongo both went 1-for-3 with singles. Senior
Nicole Ciricillo also picked up a single, going 1-for-2 on the day.
Top-seeded Alfred scored the lone run of the Empire 8 elimination game in the top half of the opening frame. A Saxon double and single accounted for the run, giving Alfred the 1-0 lead in the first.
Stellar pitching from both sides carried the 1-0 game into the bottom of the seventh. Although both sides pressured throughout, neither team was able to change the 1-0 score.
Ithaca, serving as the home team, was able to get a runner on in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single from Robichaud. However, the Bombers were unable to generate any more offense in the frame, giving Alfred the 1-0 win. The Saxons' victory advances them to the Empire 8 final to take on St. John Fisher.
The Bombers will now wait to see if their season continues with an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The DIII selection show is set to air on Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m.
