Men's Lacrosse Shoots Past Lycoming In 19-4 Win

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Ithaca College men's lacrosse team defeated Lycoming on Wednesday, March 4 in a 19-4 victory at the Shangraw Complex. The win put Ithaca's record at 2-1 on the season, while Lycoming fell to 0-3.

Ithaca ended the first period with a 10-0 advantage over the Warriors. John Januszkiewicz started the rally nine seconds into the game with a goal from Jack Shumway. The Bombers quickly extended the lead to 4-0 by the 10:27 mark, with three goals in a span of 1:14. Jake Cotton netted two of his four goals in that time and freshman Greg Drillock added his first goal of the season off a feed from Shumway.

The Bombers then went on to score six goals in the last 5:48 of the first quarter. In addition to Cotton's contributions, Steve Danylyshyn added two goals off of assists from Stephen Morrell and Michael Walker. James Manilla and Shumway put away one each for Ithaca.

After an Ithaca penalty to start the second period, Lycoming got on the board at 13:45 to make the score 10-1. Danylyshyn responded at 12:39 with his third goal of the day, and his seventh of the season.  Less than two minutes later, Morrell netted his first of the day for the Bombers. With 1:11 left in the period, Sean Ferrito scored on a pass from Manilla. Lycoming answered back with four seconds left in the quarter, to make the score 13-2 at halftime.

Each team scored once in the third quarter. Justin Bird found the back of the net on a pass from Cotton for Ithaca at 1:21.

Lycoming opened up the final quarter with a goal, but the Bombers responded with five more goals. Ferrito started the five-goal rally for Ithaca at 13:37 on an assist from Grant Osadchey. Jack Isaf, Alex Sullivan, Marc Ross and Tom Rundell all scored in the fourth period, recording their first goals of the season.

Cotton led Ithaca with four goals and one assist. Danylyshyn registered three goals, while Ferrito tallied two goals and two assists. Osadchey paced the Bombers with 8 ground balls.

All three goalies saw action against the Warriors. Junior Scott Sidnam made eight saves on sixteen shots in 45 minutes of play, and allowed just three goals. Justin Isaacs and Jack Deragon both saw time in reserve, making one save each.

Ithaca outshot Lycoming 45-21. The Bombers won 19-of-26 faceoff attempts and had a decisive edge of 34 ground balls over the Warriors' 17. Ithaca recorded 17 successful clears in 19 attempts.

The Bombers return to action on Saturday, March 7 at Houghton.
