ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College volleyball team opened up the Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational with a 3-0 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday evening. Ithaca notched its fourth consecutive sweep, and in the process, ran its winning streak to seven matches.
The Bombers claimed the match, 25-13, 25-12, 25-21, and outhit Plattsburgh, .322 to .106. Ithaca also tallied six service aces and six solo blocks. During the current seven-match winning streak, the Bombers have hit over .300 four different times and committed fewer than 14 hitting errors on six occasions.
Sophomores
Joelle Goldstein and
Kayla Gromen both registered double-doubles. Goldstein led all players with 12 kills on a .348 hitting percentage to go along with 10 digs, a solo block and ace. Gromen distributed 29 assists with 11 digs – both match-highs – with three aces and three kills on five attempts.
Freshman
Hailey Adler put down nine kills with three digs and two assists, while classmate
Katie Evans recorded five kills on as many swings to go along with two assists, two solo blocks, a block assist and dig.
Freshman
Amanda Cerruti added four kills, while sophomore
Caroline Gerulskis and freshman
Kyle Dandrea each tallied three kills. Dandrea also had two digs and two block assists.
Senior
Dylan Gawinski-Stern chipped in eight digs with four assists. Junior
Breanne Tuohy contributed a pair of kills, two solo blocks, a block assist and dig. Sophomore
Marlee Wierda posted three digs with an assists, while fellow sophomore
Izabella Mocarski scored on an ace.
Ithaca wraps up its regular season schedule with two matches tomorrow against Oneonta and Ramapo. The Bombers open with Oneonta at 10 a.m. and then take on Ramapo at 12:30 p.m.
