FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College volleyball team swept SUNY Fredonia in the first match of the Blue Devil Invitational on Friday night. With the win, Ithaca has run its winning streak to 12 consecutive matches, and the Bombers are now 16-1 on the season. Ithaca's 12 straight victories are the most consecutive victories in program history since the mid 1990's.
Ithaca came away with the win by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20. With the match virtually deadlocked in kills at 31-30, and hitting percentage at .103 to .098, Ithaca benefitted from 11 service errors by Fredonia.
Freshman
Katie Evans led Ithaca with eight kills on a .235 hitting percentage and added five digs. Sophomore
Joelle Goldstein was close behind with seven kills and 12 digs with an ace.
Sophomore
Kayla Gromen compiled 25 assists, three digs and two kills, and freshman
Hailey Adler posted six kills, seven digs and two aces.
Senior
Dylan Gawinski-Stern notched 17 digs and five assists, while freshman
Amanda Cerruti hit at a .300 clip with four kills on 10 swings, to go along with five block assists.
Sophomore
Caroline Gerulskis also tallied five block assists with three kills, and classmate
Marlee Wierda added six digs.
The Bombers play two more matches tomorrow against Canton at 10 a.m. and Hilbert at 12:30 p.m.
