OLEAN, N.Y.  – The Ithaca College women's tennis team extended its season-opening win streak to seven thanks to Saturday's 9-0 win over Empire 8 rival Alfred at the St. Bonaventure Tennis Courts.

For the sixth time in seven matches, Ithaca (7-0, 7-0 Empire 8) swept an opponent. The Bombers, the 10-time defending champions of the Empire 8, have won 71 of a possible 72 matches to start the season.

Three student-athletes earned both singles and doubles wins against the Saxons (1-9, 1-5 E8) as junior Haley Kusak claimed two wins on the day, as did freshmen Shayna Ginster and McKinleigh Lair.

Kusak (first singles) was one of four Bomber student-athletes to earn 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play. The others were Lair (second singles), Ginster (third), and freshman Kathryn Shaffer (fifth).

Junior Jodi Grosberg triumphed 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles, and classmate Maddie Overholt completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win at sixth singles.

In doubles action, Kusak and Lair won 8-3, Dunn and Ginster won 8-2, and Greenspan and senior Marni Blumenthal earned an 8-2 win at third doubles.

Ithaca hosts Hartwick (12 p.m.) and Cortland (4 p.m.) Sunday on the Wheeler Tennis Courts. The Bombers are 3-0 at home to start the 2015-16 season.
