ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked Ithaca College women's soccer team settled for a scoreless draw against Nazareth College on Saturday as the No. 25 Bombers were unable to tally a goal despite taking 18 shots on goal at Golden Flyer Stadium.
With the draw, Ithaca, which has not suffered a loss in its last nine games, clinched a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship and moves to 10-3-2 overall and 5-0-2 in Empire 8 action while Nazareth goes to 11-2-3 and 5-1-2 in the conference standings.Â
The Bombers were clicking on the offensive end of the field, taking 24 shots overall including three in overtime, but couldn't find the back of the net as Nazareth's goalie had a career day with 18 saves.
Ithaca's best opportunity came in the beginning of the second half as the Bombers peppered the Nazareth backline with four shots in a span of two minutes, but to no avail.
Kelsey King nearly notched the game-winner in the final seconds of the second overtime but it was not to be as both teams walked off the field in a scoreless tie.
Megan Nash led the way for Ithaca, taking a game-high seven shots while King was credited with five.Â
Jess Demczar had four shots in total and
Holly Niemiec took three.
Beth Coppolecchia kept the Golden Flyers off the board for 110 minutes and earned her fourth straight shutout in the process after making six saves. Â
The Bombers will be back at it at 3 p.m. on Wednesday when they host Misericordia at Carp Wood Field.
