ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis team began its season with a pair of victories on Saturday. Ithaca began with a morning match at Cortland, a 9-0 win. The Bombers then defeated Alfred by a 9-0 score in an Empire 8 match Saturday afternoon at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
 
It was a convincing start to the season for the Bombers, as only one of the singles matches played throughout the day was stretched to a third set. Kelly Fishback rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 win at sixth singles against Cortland. Haley Kusak, Carly Siegel and Allison Vizgaitis were all straight-sets winners at the top three singles positions.
 
The doubles combinations of Kusak and Siegel, Vizgaitis and Marni Blumenthal, and Fishback and Alyssa Steinweis each picked up two victories.
 
Ithaca players return to action with matches at the Mary Hosking Invitational hosted by William Smith next weekend.
