Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland scored a touchdown on a broken field-goal attempt on the final play of the game and defeated the Ithaca College football team 23-20 in the annual Cortaca Jug rivalry game. Ithaca is 7-3 and will play an NCAA Tournament game next weekend. Cortland finished its season with a 5-5 record.

Ithaca held a 20-17 advantage in the final minute before Cortland drove down the field. After three running plays were stopped by the Bombers, Cortland lined up for a field goal as the clock ticked under five seconds. The snap was bounced back to the holder, who eventually controlled the ball. With the timing of the kick askew, holder Luke Hinton stood and rolled to his left and passed to Jon Mannix in the endzone for the winning score.

It is the fifth time in the last six years that the Cortaca Jug game has been decided by six points or less.

The Bombers took control of the game in the early going. A defensive stop and long punt return by
Sam Carney set Ithaca up at the Cortland 13-yard line for its opening possession. Ithaca turned it into seven points on a 2-yard pass from
Tom Dempsey to
Ben Cary and the extra-point kick by
Garrett Nicholson.

Ithaca extended its lead to 14-0 in the second quarter on a 4-yard run by
Josh Oliver.

The Bombers led 14-10 at halftime, and after a scoreless third quarter, went ahead 17-10 on a 22-yard field goal from Nicholson. On the ensuing kickoff, Cortland's Dylan Peebles returned the ball 91 yards for a game-tying touchdown.

Ithaca regained the lead with 3:17 left on a 32-yard field goal by Nicholson. The Bombers held Cortland on their next possession and forced a punt. The Red Dragons forced a three-and-out from Ithaca and used all of their timeouts to regain possession with 1:35 left to play at their own 49 for the winning drive.

Running back
Josh Oliver led Ithaca with 99 yards rushing and a touchdown. Quarterback
Tom Dempsey was 21-for-31 passing for 187 yards and the touchdown to Cary.
Vito Boffoli had seven catches for 57 yards.

Ithaca's defense held Cortland without a third-down conversion in 12 attempts.
Schnayder Termidor led Ithaca with eight total tackles including a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Marc Recio had seven tackles and a pass break-up.
Malik Morris and
Sam Carney each had an interception.
