Ithaca Defeats RPI In Second Meet Of Season

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team earned a win over Rensselaer Saturday afternoon, defeating the Engineers by a score of 186-112 at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. The Bombers earned 15 first-place finishes in the dual meet.

The Bomber men opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Ben Kennedy, Aidan Hartswick, Lucas Zelehowsky and Logan Metzger finished in a time of 1:36.44 to take the top spot.

L. Zelehowsky would earn three more individual first place finishes on the day, starting with the 200-yard butterfly at 1:58.24. He completed the sweep of the fly with the top spot at 100-yards, completing the race in 51.96. L. Zelehowsky completed his day with a first place finish in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:03.11.

Hartswick also achieved individual success later in the meet, as the freshman took first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.90) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.72). Not to be outdone, Metzger took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.08. He also took first with a time of 47.56 in the 100-yard freestyle, closing out his individual first-place finishes.

Adam Zelehowsky contributed with three individual first-place finishes, starting with the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:45.24. A. Zelehowsky followed that up with a first place finish in the 50-yard (21.82) freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.98).

Senior Matt Morrison finished first in both of the diving events. He took first in 3-meter, scoring a 315.85. He also took the top spot at 1-meter, finishing with a score of 329.40 to complete the sweep.

Clement Towner earned the final individual first place finish for the Bombers, completing the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:33.70.

Ithaca closed the day with a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Metzger, Connor Schroyer, Addison Hebert and A. Zelehowsky took the top spot, completing the race in a time of 3:12.53.

Ithaca returns to action on Nov. 8, as the Bombers head to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons.
