ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team defeated Alfred Saturday, taking down the Saxons by a score of 207-80. The Bombers finished first in 12-of-16 events.
Matt Morrison swept the diving events, highlighted by scores of 345.35 in the 1-meter dive and 331.65 in the 3-meter dive. His scores marked career highs and also set pool and school records. Morrison broke his own program mark in the 1-meter, while his performance in the 3-meter broke Derek Rand's score of 314.60 set in 2012.
The team of
Connor White,
Lucas Zelehowsky,
Taylor Van Cott and
Zack Kundel started the meet off with the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay, taking first with a time of 1:37.12. The Bombers also took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as
John Carr,
Logan Metzger,
Peter Knight and Kundel finished in a time of 1:26.11.
Kundel added to his relay wins with an individual first place finish, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.83. While collected an individual victory for the Bombers in the 100-yard backstroke, taking first with a time of 54.39.
Adam Zelehowsky won two individual events for Ithaca, taking first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:25.07) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.32).
Clement Towner took the top spot with a time of 1:46.97 in the 200-yard freestyle, while
James Bowe earned a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.60.
Cheffy Thomas pulled in another win for the Bombers, taking first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.40.
Addison Hebert capped the top individual finishes, taking first in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:23.42.
The Bombers are back in action on Sunday, Jan. 26 as the Ithaca Divers will compete in the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. Events are set to start at 10 a.m.
