Pat Lemmo pitched another solid game for the Bombers, with seven strong innings where he allowed just two unearned runs on nine hits. Lemmo had five strikeouts in improving his personal record to 11-0 on the season. Jimmy Wagner pitched the last two innings for the Bombers, earning his fourth save of the season and third of the weekend. Both pitchers were named to the all-tournament team and Lemmo was named as the regional's most outstanding player.

Ithaca scored twice in the second with a two-out rally. Luke Stark walked and Andrew Turner hit a double to deep left that scored Stark. Turner took third on the throw home and scored when the throw to third from the catcher sailed into left field.

The Bombers added a run in the third on a Max Addy pinch-hit sacrifice fly that scored Tim Henry, who had singled with one out, moved to second on a hit batter and went to third on a Corey Caswell infield single. Ithaca's lead grew to 4-0 in the sixth on a Colby Gee RBI single.

Cortland answered with two runs in the top of the seventh, but Lemmo worked out of a jam to limit the damage. That ended the day for Lemmo, who was 2-0 with a 0.56 earned-run average in the regional as he allowed just one earned run over 16 innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Jimmy Wagner came on to pitch a perfect eighth inning and ended the game in the ninth with a strikeout of Cortland's cleanup hitter. Wagner had three saves in the regional, allowing just one hit in five scoreless innings of work with two walks and three strikeouts.

Corey Caswell was 3-for-4 in the championship game, Tim Locastro had two hits and Turner and Christian Brown each doubled. Both teams left 12 runners on base.

Turner also appeared on the all-tournament team as he led all Ithaca players with seven hits in the four tournament games. He was 7-for-11 on the week with three doubles and drove in a run and scored three times.

Bomber shortstop Tim Locastro was also an all-tournament team selection. He had two hits in the championship and was 5-for-12 in the tournament, plus reached base five other times via walk or hit by pitch.

It was Ithaca's 100th all-time win in NCAA Division III Tournament play. Only three other programs -- Marietta (154, entering the 2013 tournament), Eastern Connecticut State (115, did not qualify in 2013) and Wisconsin-Osh Kosh (104,did not qualify in 2013) -- have reached 100 wins since the Division III tournament was created beginning in 1976. Ithaca also totaled 28 wins in NCAA events prior to the establishment of Division III.

Ithaca last qualified for the Division III World Series in 1994. This victory puts an end to the 18-year drought between appearances, which was the longest in program history. This is Ithaca's 12th World Series appearance. Ithaca won national titles in 1980 and 1988, and has three second-place finishes (1976, 1981, 1986) and two third-place finishes. Ithaca's all-time record in the World Series round is 21-20.
