ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team (25-13) improved its winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Keuka (15-11) on Tuesday afternoon at Kostrinsky Field. The Bomber pitchers combined to total 20 strikeouts over the two games – 10 in each contest, which were season-highs for each. The Bombers conclude their regular season Wednesday at Rochester, with a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The Bombers scored early and shut down the Keuka Storm in a game that was shortened to five innings by the scoring-margin rule. Ithaca scored twice in the bottom of the first on a two-out single by
Brooke Powers to bring in
Francesca Busa and
Julianne Vincent. Ithaca added six runs in the second, highlighted by two-run homers off the bats of
Sydney Folk and Powers.
Sam Bender struck out seven batters over just three innings, her season-best strikeout total in a single game. She earned the win in the circle to improve to 12-3.
Laura Quicker pitched two innings of relief with three strikeouts. Each pitcher allowed just one hit.
Busa, Vincent and Powers had two hits each for Ithaca, and Powers led the team with four RBIs.

Box Score and Play-by-Play
Ithaca capped the twin bill with a 5-1 win in the second game. The Bombers scored twice in the third and added three runs in the fourth. In the third inning, Busa and Vincent reached to start the rally and each came in to score on sacrifice flies later in the inning. A three-run rally in the following inning included a two-run single up the middle from Busa and a sac fly by Vincent.
Pitcher
Allison Macari worked seven strong innings to earn the complete-game victory and improve to 9-8 on the year. She had a career-best 10 strikeouts and allowed only five hits without issuing a walk.
