ITHACA, N .Y. – The 20th-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team (10-4, 4-1 Empire 8) dominated visiting Hartwick (5-7, 1-4 Empire 8) 15-5 Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium.
Ithaca rattled off nine unanswered first-half goals before improving to 10-0 early in the third. Ithaca narrowly outscored the Hawks, 6-5, in the second half to win its 10th straight over Hartwick.
Junior
Ryan Burns tallied a career- and game-high four goals, while classmate
Pat Slawta added a hat trick and sophomores
Steve Danylyshyn and
James Manilla scored two each. Junior
Joe Perkins dished out two assists and scored once and junior
Jake Long had one goal and one assist. Junior
Casey Schattner and sophomore
Dan Sclafani accounted for Ithaca's other two goals.
Danylyshyn had a career-high seven ground balls and freshman
Eli Gobrecht scooped up six. Junior
Brandon Henne matched a career-best performance with 12 faceoffs to pace the Bombers.
Freshman
Scott Sidnam made 10 stops in goal for the win, while senior
Andrew Landsman had two in the final 10 minutes of play.
Ithaca held a 44-34 margin in shots and a 48-33 advantage in ground balls. The Bombers owned a 12-11 edge in faceoffs.
The Bombers will play their final regular-season home game Wendesday, April 24 hosting Elmira at 4 p.m.
