#17 Bomber Men's Lacrosse Squad Upends St. John Fisher, 11-3

ITHACA, N.Y. – The 17th-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team (8-4, 2-1 Empire 8) trounced visiting St. John Fisher (8-4, 2-2 Empire 8), 11-3, Friday night at Higgins Stadium. Ithaca held the Cardinals to their fewest goals since falling 11-3 at Ithaca on March 21, 2007.

Ithaca scored the lone goal in the first period before Fisher opened the second quarter with a score to knot action, 1-1. The Bombers thrice found the back of the net for a 4-1 edge at the half. The Cardinals again netted the first score of the third, but Ithaca went on to record five straight and seven of the last eight for an 11-3 final.

Juniors Pat Slawta and Jake Long paced the Bomber offense. Slawta tallied a hat trick and added a pair of assists for five points, while Long found the back of the net four times. Classmate Joe Perkins scored twice and had one assist and junior Ryan Burns and sophomore James Manilla each had a two assists.

Senior Andrew Bruce and freshman Michael Walker accounted for the Bombers' other two goals. Bruce, sophomore Steve Danylyshyn and junior Brandon Henne dished out one assists each.

Freshman Eli Gobrecht recorded a career-high seven ground balls and junior Andrew Kristy added five. Henne went 8-for-14 in faceoffs and sophomore Matt Greenblatt was a perfect 4-for-4 to help Ithaca to a 12-6 edge in the category.

Defensively, Kristy forced a career- and game-best four turnovers, while freshman Scott Sidnam claimed the win in goal with 11 saves. Senior Andrew Landsman made one stop during the final 5:04 of play.

Ithaca owned the shot count 38-22 and held a 42-24 margin in ground balls.

The Bombers return to action Wednesday, April 17 at Utica at 4 p.m.
