SALISBURY, Md. -- The Ithaca College softball team began play at the Salisbury Invitational with a 6-2 win over Capital on Saturday morning, then fell 8-0 to 17th-ranked Salisbury in the second game of the day. Ithaca returns to upstate New York with a 5-5 record after its spring trip, and will play a doubleheader at Rensselaer on Saturday, March 23.

The Bombers scored three times in the bottom of the second inning with two outs, and all three runs were unearned.
Francesca Busa singled to right field to bring home
Julianne Vincent and
Carianne D'Alessandro. That was followed by an RBI double from
Brooke Powers to score Busa.
Ithaca added two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by
Molly O'Donnell and an RBI double from
Jennifer Biondi to bring home Busa. The Bombers added an insurance run in the fifth on three walks and a wild pitch.
Busa had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Casey Gavin reached base three times on a hit and two walks and scored twice.
Sam Bender was the winning pitcher, she worked five scoreless innings and allowed just two hits and one walk. She had one strikeout. Powers pitched the last two innings and allowed two runs
