TROY, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team dominated seven other teams behind strong efforts including one school record as the Bombers placed first in a field of eight teams at the Henry Kumpf Invitational hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The annual event features both team and individual scoring and Ithaca paced the field with 605 team points and posted seven wins in dual-meet scoring to improve to 12-1 on the year.
Diver
Matt Morrison set an Ithaca school record in 1-meter diving in the six-dive format with a total of 322.30. He was also second on 3-meter diving with a score of 306.25. Including Morrison's win on 1-meter, the Bombers earned victories in 10 of the 13 events contested at the meet.
Adam Zelehowsky placed first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.85) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.42), and anchored Ithaca's 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed first in 3:12.78. The other members of the 400 free relay included
Peter Knight,
John Carr, and
Zack Kundel.
In addition to his relay victory, Kundel won the 50 free in 21.84 seconds.
Jake Lichter placed first in the 200-yard breast stroke in 2:16.16.
Taylor Van Cott was first in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.87 and
Addison Hebert won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.50.
Clement Towner won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:07.83.
The Bombers opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:34.60 by the quartet of
Connor White, Lichter, Van Cott and Knight.
Ithaca returns to action at home Saturday against Rochester. The dual meet begins at 1 p.m. at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion.
