Elmira, N.Y. -- The Ithaca softball team maintained its perfect record in Empire 8 play with a doubleheader sweep of Elmira on Saturday. Each game was shortened due to the eight-run margin rule. Ithaca won the first game 12-3 and the second game 11-1. The Bombers are 11-10 on the season and 4-0 in Empire 8 games. Elmira is 6-6 and 0-4 in the Empire 8. Ithaca faces Oneonta on Wednesday at Oneonta.

The Bombers scored early and often, with four runs in the first, three in the second and four more in the third inning. Sophomore Rachel Dell'Orto and sophomore first baseman Sydney Folk each had three hits to pace the offense. The Bombers totaled 16 hits in the game and just one was an extra-base hit, a double by junior outfielder Adrienne Walters. Sophomore Sam Bender earned the win for Ithaca, as she allowed six hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.

Ithaca 11, Elmira 1 (6 inn.) | Box Score

Jillian Olmstead earned the win in the circle by pitching all six innings and allowing just six hits and one walk with one earned run. She had four strikeouts. Sophomore Rachel Dell'Orto was 3-for-3 in the leadoff spot and drove in three runs. Freshman shortstop Francesca Busa, junior catcher Lindsey Johnson and sophomore first baseman Sydney Folk all had two hits. Folk and freshman outfielder Monica Capolongo each tripled. The Bombers scored three runs in the first, added three in the fifth and then scored five times in the top of the sixth.
