Men's Lacrosse Silent In Second Half as Stevens Powers to 11-3 Victory

ITHACA, N.Y. – The 22nd-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team (11-5, 6-1 Empire 8) suffered an 11-3 setback to 10th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology (14-2, 6-1 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. With the win, the Ducks claimed the top seed for the conference tournament, while the Bombers secured the second seed.

Ithaca fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to lead, 3-2, early in the second quarter, but the Ducks netted the game's final nine goals to snap the Bombers' four-game win streak.

Ithaca held a slight 38-36 edge in shots, while Stevens controlled ground balls, 33-24, and faceoffs, 10-5.

Sophomore Pat Slawta scored the Bombers first two, while senior Devin Weinshank tallied the Bombers' third. Junior Connor Lowe and sophomore Jacob Long recorded assists.

Weinshank was one of four Bombers with a trio of ground balls. Freshman Matt Greenblatt won three faceoffs and sophomore Brandon Henne two. Sophomore Andrew Kristy forced three turnovers.

Senior Brendan Green made 11 stops between the pipes for the Bombers.

Ithaca will face third-seeded Nazareth at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in an Empire 8 semifinal at Higgins Stadium.
