Big Second Half Sparks Men's Lacrosse Win At Elmira

Elmira, N.Y. -- The Ithaca men's lacrosse team (11-4, 6-0 Empire 8) outscored Elmira (3-9, 0-6 Empire 8) by nine goals in the second half in a 15-6 win Wednesday afternoon. The Bombers maintained a perfect Empire 8 record heading into Saturday's home game against 10th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology at noon.

The Bombers and Soaring Eagles were tied 5-5 at halftime, before Ithaca's second-half dominance led to the win. Ithaca scored six goals in the third quarter and four in the fourth quarter.

Pat Slawta led the way in the third quarter, he assisted on Ithaca's first three goals in the run and added another. He finished the game with two goals and four assists. Pat Danylyshyn had three goals for Ithaca and Brian DiBetta scored twice. Jake Long had three assists to go with one goal, and Billy LaPerch had a goal and two assists.

Bomber goalie Brendan Green earned the win, he made three saves in 56 minutes, 16 seconds of playing time. Mac Davis played the closing minutes of the fourth quarter and made one save.

Ithaca held a 51-24 advantage in shots, including a 32-10 difference in that category in the second half. The Bombers picked up 31 ground balls and won 17 of the game's 26 faceoffs.
