ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca softball team (20-11) picked up its 20th win of the year and totaled 22 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Buffalo State (17-15) on Sunday afternoon at Kostrinsky Field. Ithaca won the first game 11-2 in five innings and won the second game 11-6. It is the third time this season that the Bombers have scored 10 runs or more in both games of a doubleheader sweep.

The Bombers scored three times in the first inning, twice in the fourth and wrapped up the victory with six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Sophomore Sam Bender allowed just two runs on six hits in getting the win, her ninth of the season. Sophomore outfielder Rachel Dell'Orto and sophomore first baseman Sydney Folk each had three hits on the day. Dell'Orto was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Folk was 3-for-4 and drove in four runs. Freshman outfielder Maggie Maurice slugged her second homer of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning. Freshman shortstop Francesca Busa had two hits in the game.

The Bomber offense continued to score runs in the second game of the day as Ithaca drew a season-high 11 bases on balls and came through with eight hits to complete the sweep. Dell'Orto had two more hits, both doubles, and scored twice and drove in two runs. Second baseman Julianne Vincent was 2-for-3, and junior catcher Lindsey Johnson reached base in all four plate appearances with a double and three walks. Sophomore Jillian Olmstead pitched the final three and a third innings and earned the win in relief. She is 11-6 on the year.
