Clermont, Fla. -- The Ithaca softball team (4-3) picked up a win and a loss for the second consecutive day as the team continued its spring trip at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. The Bombers dropped a 3-1 game against Franklin & Marshall in the opening game on Thursday afternoon, then came back with a 2-1 victory over Monmouth (Ill.) in the second game of the day. The Bombers wrap up their spring trip with games Friday against Keene State and Messiah.
Franklin & Marshall 3, Ithaca 1
F&M scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and went on to a victory. Ithaca's run came in the top of the sixth on a leadoff single by
Francesca Busa and a double by
Molly O'Donnell.
Ithaca 2, Monmouth (Ill.) 1
The Bombers earned a one-run victory as
Sam Bender started in the pitcher's circle and threw effectively. Ithaca picked up one run on an RBI hit from
Carianne D'Alessandro and built a 2-0 lead. Monmouth scored once in the top of the seventh, but Ithaca held on for the win.
